Bailey had on new shoes so we didn't actually put her down in it, but she was fascinated by the white ground. Hopefully she'll get to see it again next year since we don't get much of the white stuff in Hilton Head! She really had a good time with her cousins Ivy (6 1/2) and Carter (almost 4) but was completely pooped by the time we left yesterday afternoon. On Christmas Eve, we counted 31 family members at Mimi and Papa's house for dinner. Guess she better get used to having a big family as opposed to our quiet little household!
Besides good food, great presents and quality time spent with the family, the biggest news of the weekend is that Bailey took her first steps! It brought tears to my eyes (I think I hid them well with my hair) as she stumbled three steps toward her aunt Jill. I was absolutely amazed. She will be walking before we know it! She is quite the entertainer as well - everyone got a kick out of watching her throw various objects BEHIND her (we need to work on the forward motion of her arm) and her signing 'more' any time anyone had any food. The child LOVES to eat, although she's getting sneaky about it when she's had enough... case in point, I fed her ravioli in the car on our way home yesterday and found several pieces shoved in the seatbelt hole of her carseat. Gross! Guess she was full or just thought that would be a good hiding place. :)We had a lovely morning at the Fortners' church and Bailey got to wear her Christmas dress.
She also wore her new coat, which I think kinda makes her look like one of those Hungarian dolls (you know, the kind that stack inside each other?). Cute nonetheless.
All in all, it was a super fun weekend and we can't wait to do it again soon. Thanks to Mimi, Papa and the rest of the Fortner clan for helping us make such a memorable Christmas! We love you!
